Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Police then located many other marked vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.
Local authorities announced they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A high-ranking official said the incident made him stunned and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
