The second-hand marketplace Members Share Anger Over Sizing Changes

Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.

The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.

Social Media Backlash

Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.

The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, located in Scotland, said garments she listed featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.

Manual Updates

Another shopper, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she explained.

Platform Context

The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
